In Loving Memory of Dr Yu Chi Shing, Founding Chairman of HKADA

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Founding Chairman, Dr Yu Chi Shing, on 21 August 2025. On behalf of the Hong Kong Alzheimer’s Disease Association, we express our deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences.

Dr Yu was a pioneer in the field of psychogeriatrics in Hong Kong. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to advancing the support and care for people living with dementia and their families. His compassion went beyond medical treatment — he cared deeply for the overall well-being of patients and their loved ones, walking alongside countless families during their most difficult times and becoming a steadfast and comforting partner.

In 1995, Dr Yu united a group of devoted healthcare professionals, social workers, family caregivers, and volunteers to overcome immense challenges and founded the Hong Kong Alzheimer’s Disease Association. His vision and perseverance laid the solid foundation upon which our association stands today. Without the seeds he sowed three decades ago, we would not have the sheltering canopy that now safeguards older adults and families in need.

Dr Yu’s spirit, compassion, and contributions will forever remain in our hearts.
The entire HKADA team pays the highest tribute to Dr Yu and holds his memory in deepest respect.

Dr WU Yee-ming
